Members from the Newnan Junior Service league recently presented a $20,000 check to Coweta C.A.S.A., Inc.

The check was presented during the organization’s annual dinner held Tuesday at the Newnan Country Club. The donation was raised through the group’s annual fundraisers which included their 5th Annual Sporting Clay Shoot, 2nd Annual Luminaria, 12th Annual ShamRock Run, and Big Event Casino Night.

Coweta C.A.S.A Chairman, Tom Jackson and Vice-chair, Jenny Pope Bryant accepted the check on behalf of Coweta C.A.S.A. and noted the money would help fund new “Court Appointed Special Advocates” whom the organization recruits, develops and trains to support displaced children in the court system or foster care.

The NJSL also awarded $15,000 in college scholarships to five Coweta County high school seniors.
Northgate seniors Natalie Caylor, Arthi Shankar, and Ashley Stephens, along with East Coweta Seniors Mary Chase Gardiner and Samantha Huynh, were each awarded $3,000 toward their college tuition.

The scholarship recipients were chosen based on their commitment to community service in Coweta both presently and in the future, and were presented at Northgate High School and East Coweta High School Awards Night Ceremonies.
