A new calendar year brought a new pair of shoes to Fayette County Public School students who could not afford them.

School counselor Maria Sherrod of Fayetteville Elementary received a grant from Rack Room Shoes at the Fayette Pavilion for the purchase of over 60 new pairs of shoes for students in-need at the school. In the true spirit of giving, Sherrod donated 30 pairs of the shoes to the school system’s CARE (Children at Risk in Education) Angel Tree project so that the gift would have a far-reaching effect.

Rack Room Shoes supports children in need in local communities by partnering with Shoes That Fit, a national non-profit organization that provides shoes to disadvantaged children. Customers are invited to give to the cause through in-store and online contributions. The money raised is channeled through local school liaisons to identify students in-need for new footwear.
