Georgia Power’s Plant Yates Employees Provide $10,000 in Donations to Local Elementary Schools, Community Nonprofits

Georgia Power employees at Plant Yates near Newnan are continuing to be “citizens wherever they serve” throughout the pandemic by supporting local students and their community.

Citizens of Georgia Power – the active volunteer organization of Georgia Power employees – has had a long-standing relationship with the schools and nonprofits near the plant.

Recently, the Plant Yates chapter presented donations of $2,000 to Arnco Sargent Elementary School for school projects, Western Elementary School for a “Day of Magic” for science experiments and a math-themed carnival, and Whitesburg Elementary School for school projects.

Additionally, the chapter leadership presented a $2,000 donation to Whitesburg CARE Fund, Inc. and $2,000 to the Whitesburg Area Christian Ministries Food Bank to support local families during the continuing pandemic.

With more than 40 chapters statewide, Citizens of Georgia Power gives back to their local communities through in-person and virtual volunteer projects, fundraisers, and donations. In 2019, Citizens’ members logged more than 125,000 hours of service equal to $3.1 million.
