Headley Construction Helps Harbin Agency Feed Hundreds of Hungry Golfers

Staff Report From Newnan CEO

Over 280 people attended AGC Georgia’s Young Leadership Program (YLP) 20th Anniversary Golf Classic on Wednesday, May 1 at Canongate Golf. The annual event was held to support the AGC of Georgia Foundation, Inc., a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization that has distributed over a million dollars to charities assisting children and families in need.

The fundraiser combined a sunny spring day with silent auction and hospitality sponsor surprises throughout the perfectly manicured grounds of Canongate. From Bacon Bloody Marys at the check-in tables to BBQ chicken wings served up at the 17th Hole by YLP Member Michael Harbin of the Harbin Agency, AGC’s young leaders enjoyed golf and good food while making an impact through community service and increasing public awareness of the importance of the construction industry to the state’s economic prosperity.

“Participating in events like the YLP Golf Classic is a great way to build better connections with our community,” says Headley Construction Vice President of Operations Christopher Gilliam. He’s been a YLP member for 6 years and credits the AGC program with introducing him to Harbin.

“Everyone on our team benefits from the networking, mentorship and professional growth opportunities AGC provides. I’m not a golf guy, but Michael is a dear friend of mine that I met through the YLP Program. I count on Michael for personal and business advice, so I was happy to help when he invited me to assist the Harbin Agency Cook Team with their legendary wings at this year’s Classic.”

Whether eating barbeque improves your game or not is up for debate, but there’s no arguing the importance of building strong relationships with the next generation of leaders in Georgia’s construction industry.
